One of the many benefits of membership at Cedarmill is
the community of friends that we’ve built. As such, we
all benefit from our network of contacts. However, a
challenge in managing this network is to not overwhelm
our members with information, and be conscious of being
overly “solicitous” in our communications. The board
often receives requests for advertising events, whether
they are charitable or otherwise, to the general
membership via email or newsletters. Such requests have
begun to grow in volume, frequency and in some cases to
the dismay of the members. The board itself is
cognizant of the frequency of communications, and is
committed to making them no more frequent than monthly.
a)
The Cedarmill membership email/home address
distribution list will not be made available to the
general membership. This distribution list will be
used solely for communications from the board or
board members to the general membership. Such
communications from the board shall be limited to
Cedarmill-related business.
b)
As a general guideline, email communications
will be limited to no more than one per month.
Exceptions may be made for urgent matters,
corrections or retractions from previous
communications, or as reminders for specific events.
c)
Newsletters will be sent electronically (e.g.
email) unless requested otherwise by specific
members.
d)
Communications from the board will typically
be available on the Cedarmill website (www.cedarmillpool.com)
when appropriate.
e)
The Cedarmill website will be used for
maintaining calendars of events; recording
reservations for pool/clubhouse parties; general
announcements; rules, regulations and policies.
f)
Members may submit requests for announcements
or other communications to the general membership.
Any such requests should be submitted to the board
secretary (secretary@cedarmillpool.com)
g)
Advertisements, solicitations, or general
announcements will be limited to events or offers
that directly benefit the club and/or its
membership. Any private events, sales parties,
social causes, or other activities that do not have
a direct relationship to Cedarmill members or
their interests, will not be advertised. Examples
of permitted communications include: tennis
lessons, swim lessons, club invitations (e.g.
fitness club, book club), non-profit party
invitations for Cedarmill members only. Exceptions
may be made for any events where proceeds will be
given to Cedarmill, such as a sales party where a
percentage of income is given to Cedarmill.
h)
A general announcement site may be made
available to Cedarmill members on the Cedarmill
website for posting announcements that are not in
adherence with the rules outlined in (g). (Note:
this capability is currently not available but is
being planned)
i)
Bulletin boards and/or Kiosks on the pool
grounds may be used for posting public
announcements. The board will reserve the right to
disallow, reject, and/or remove without notice any
announcement or public notice on Cedarmill
member-owned facilities, including the website.
j)
Profitable business advertisements may be
posted after approval by the Cedarmill board for
sponsorship consideration. Sponsors who provide
payment or proceeds to Cedarmill may provide/post
advertisement that is accepted by the Cedarmill
board.
k)
The board reserves the right to offer public
recognition to members, their organizations, or
other individuals who provide supplies or services
for the benefit of the Cedarmill membership.
